Moving home checklist: Staying organised and connected
Moving into a new home is exciting! Whether you’re upsizing, downsizing or just starting out, there’s a lot to keep track of – utilities, packing, paperwork and more. But with the right prep, it doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.
Here are our top tips for staying organised, connected, and stress-free as you move home.
1. Broadband – don’t leave it too late
Broadband is one of the first things you’ll want working in your new home, especially if you work remotely or enjoy streaming and gaming.
It’s a good idea to arrange your broadband at least two weeks before your move-in date, as installations can take a little time to schedule. Providers like us, which offer all the UKs top networks are super handy as you can check out all the broadband options available at your new home at once.
Need a hand? Just give us a call on 01403 216131 or chat with one of our friendly team members via the live chat on our website. We can talk you through your options and help get everything set up.
2. Energy – don’t find yourself on an expensive tariff
If you don’t arrange your energy before moving in, you’ll automatically be placed on a expensive standard tariff. By setting it up in advance, you can choose a tariff that suits you, like a fixed tariff, where your monthly payments stay the same with no surprise costs.
We team up with trusted energy suppliers to offer you great value tariffs at competitive prices. We’re also one of the only providers to offer an unlimited energy tariff where you pay a fixed monthly price, no matter how much energy you use. Click here to find out more.
3. Entertainment – plan ahead to relax sooner
After a long day of unpacking, you’ll probably want to kick back with your favourite show or game. If you’re planning to set up services like Sky Q or other entertainment packages, try to get it sorted before you move in.
Also, keep remote controls, power leads and HDMI cables in a clearly labelled box so they’re easy to find straight away.
4. Council Tax & Water – get registered early
Council tax and Water are easy to overlook, but getting them set up early is key to avoiding missed bills or overpayments.
With us, you can register for free. Just book a call back with a friendly agent, who will get your Council Tax and Water set up in under 5 minutes.
5. Create a moving checklist
A clear checklist helps turn a stressful process into something far more manageable. Jot down everything that needs doing before, during, and after your move like:
- Updating your address with banks, GP, DVLA etc.
- Booking movers
- Packing essentials separately
You’ll thank yourself later when things start to get busy.

One last thing…
Moving can be tiring, but it’s also a chance for a fresh start. With a little planning (and maybe a few friendly helping hands), your move can be smoother than you think.
